Legal Intervention On Australian Coal and Gas Proposals
Following on from the great news that for the first time in history, Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek has blocked the creation of a new coal mine due to environmental concerns, legal organisations are taking further action. The Environment Council of Central Queensland (ECoCeQ), working with Environmental Justice Australia, is urging the federal government to reconsider 19 coal and gas proposals using what it says is a rarely used provision of the EPBC Act. Here's hoping that this is a new era of no new fossil fuel projects.
