According to a new book by Ethinvest client Mark Diesendorf and co-author Rod Taylor, they are all driven by powerful vested interests. The book, The Path to a Sustainable Civilisation (Palgrave Macmillan, 2023), identifies these driving forces and the tools vested interests use to capture nation-states: political donations, revolving door jobs, concentrated media ownership and neoliberal economics ideology. The book sets out strategies and tactics for weakening these driving forces and transitioning to a more democratic, less polluted, more peaceful society.
